The Perfect Storm Is Already Here

By Larry Pinkney

“Our revenge will be the laughter of our children.”—Bobby Sands

“Washington is the worst violator of human rights in our era, and Washington has only begun. Who will liberate Americans from Washington’s clutches?”—Dr. Paul Craig Roberts

This year of 2012 has ushered in a broadened plethora of U.S. corporate-government violence and hypocrisy both at home and abroad.

The United States remains, in the words of the late Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., “the greatest purveyor of violence in the world today.” This U.S. corporate-government’s violence is physical, economic, and psychological; and it is directed against everyday Black, White, Brown, Red, and Yellow people in this nation and throughout the entire world.

This violence is virtually everywhere and it can be seen in the constant lies, distractions, and omissions by the corporate-stream ‘news’ media, the insatiable corporate greed of Wall Street, the deceit of the corporate-owned Democrat and Republican party politicians, the massive and ongoing amount of home foreclosures and homelessness, increasing economic austerity, the burgeoning incarceration of many millions of people in this country, and the perpetual war mongering and concomitant wars and/or U.S. military adventures around the globe.

It can be seen in the so-called ‘war on terror,’ which in reality is, a cynical corporate profit-driven war of manipulation and fear against the everyday peoples of this nation and planet.

Last, but by no means least, this U.S. corporate-government violence can be seen in the legalized suppression of the right of everyday people to politically dissent (against the internal and/or external U.S. government policies) in the form of the draconian ‘Patriot’ Act and indefinite detention law (NDAA),accompanied by the collaboration of the corporate-stream media and an endless litany of lies on the part of corporate-owned politicians from the White House on down.

No amount of corporate-stream news media distractions, omissions, or outright lies can forever thwart the politically perfect storm that has arrived, for the terrible pain of everyday people is too great and is increasing daily. The ‘hope and change’ lie has been unmasked for the rope and chain that it actually is.

The road ahead is both bumpy and perilous, and the stakes for ordinary people in this nation and throughout Mother Earth are incredibly high. There isno completed road map for what must be done. Creativity, principles, and perseverance must become the watchwords for we ordinary people now. The government of the United States is not owned by the people of this nation. It is in fact owned by the avaricious corporations and their wily political puppets. The constitution of the United States (with all of its inevitable shortcomings) has, in real terms, been obliterated. Human rights for the people of this nation is a myth.

Even as the White House, the rest of the corporate-owned government politicians, and the pathetic corporate-stream media prattle on about real or imagined human rights violations in other nations, the human rights of everyday Black, White, Brown, Red and Yellow people right here in this nationhave been cynically and systematically eliminated, and replaced with the stench of so-called ‘corporate personhood’ and double-talking corporate politicians.

Think seriously about it. It is time for total systemic change, not reform.Reforming this rotten, corrupt, unjust, and hypocritical political system serves only to prolong and deepen the misery—nothing else. The mutual-admiration symbiotic vultures of the Democrat and Republican parties have brought the everyday ordinary people of this nation and world to the brink of annihilation. It is time for a collective everyday people’s revolution in this country if we are to survive collectively and ultimately thrive as conscious human beings on this very precious planet of Mother Earth.

In the words of Dr. Paul Craig Roberts, “Who will liberate Americans from Washington’s clutches?” Who, indeed? It is we, the ordinary everyday people who must do this, for no one else can. We must do this for Mother Earth, for ourselves, and for our children and their children; so that we might bring about a humane “revenge” embodied, as the late Bobby Sands so wonderfully put it, “in the laughter of our children.”

No time now to mourn. Time to get busy! Onward then, my sisters and brothers! Onward!
