On 27th of September 1975 ETA volunteers Txiki and Otaegi where executed by Franco along with three Spanish antifascists, José Humberto Baena, José Luis Sánchez Bravo y Ramón García Sanz. Since then 27th September is known as “Gudari Eguna or Day of the Basque soldier”. On this day every year thousands of people from the Basque pro independence movement gather to remember and pay tribute to the Basque volunteers who were killed in action during their struggle for independence.
